It works perfectly. This firewire is an excellent buy. I have a 27" Mac and needed to upgrade my 400 firewire to 800 and am really glad I went with Belkin. I have ordered other Belkin wires for my Macs through the years and have never been disappointed. Amazon prices always beat prices for the same or similar wires at the large box stores, too.
Two were available from Amazon, the other from a third party. So what Amazon customer support was telling me was that it could take more than 2 weeks for a cable and cable adapter to cross the US based on my free shipping option.I tried using the tracking number via the US post office but it kept saying they had no record of the package. When they missed their target delivery date I contacted customer support. In other words for 6 of the 10 days my cables simply sat in a warehouse.So when Amazon says they are going to ship it for free what they are really saying is we will ship it the slowest way possible even though the US Post Office offers flat rate shipping of I think $4.95 within 5 business days usually less to anywhere in the country. So I paid $6 for shipping with the third party and received my cable within 3 days. The Amazon stuff took FOREVER. I needed to order 3 cables. When I checked the FedEx tracking info cable and adapter had sat at two different layover points each for three days.
etc. Customer support explained that they had really handed it off to FedEx who would hand it off to the US Postal Service for final delivery. Every once and a while an outfit that has had too much success figures they can eek out just a little more profit by inconveniencing their customers by not offering what they want, or by blackmailing them into paying additional for shipping when there really wasn't a logistical/expediency issue--US Postal Service will deliver anywhere in the US for a flat rate of 4.95 and up. Well it had already been more than 10 days. The Amazon supplied cables qualified for free shipping, the third party did not. So in other words, Amazon felt the difference between what they paid and what the US Post Office would charge was well worth making me wait more than 2 weeks for my cables, and their ability to totally tick me off.I usually order quite a bit from Amazon during the holiday season, it is just easier.
Who basically said wait another 6 days. I don't mean 10 days waiting to ship, I mean 10 days in transit. But this year, I am going to get my satisfaction by redirecting every order directly to the third party, or to a known comeptitor, books from Barnes and Noble for example, electronics and cables from Best Buy, etc. There rates are extremely cost effective.So to Amazon I will say this, how much did that free shipping shaft you gave me save you.
Hard to find in stores, this firewire cable was a good buy and was shipped quickly.
